The forces of darkness are out in their hate filled numbers condemning Muslims, all Muslims, because of the atrocity in Paris, their position as is often the case is completely untenable. The backgrounds of the perpetrators are depressingly analogous, they are immigrants or children of immigrants who occupy the lowest rungs of society and are stigmatised. The children of immigrants have a tendency not to accept the suffering that their parents did, this is because they are not in fact immigrants but still treated as if they are, this causes resentment and becomes a breeding ground for fanaticism and it is not of course peculiar to France. It cannot be emphasised enough that the overwhelming majority of immigrants and their families of all kinds including Muslims are hard working decent law abiding citizens; this description is being challenged by the usual twisted suspects like UKIP, The National Front, The English Defence league, The Scottish Defence League and others including the undisputed king of squalor and hatred himself Rupert Murdoch. Never ones to miss an opportunity to widen their sinister power our own nest of spooks in MI5 and MI6 are demanding more power to spy on everyone, people should consider carefully that the perpetrators of the Paris attacks were already known to French anti terrorist organisations who were unable to stop them, more spies monitoring all of us clearly is not the answer.
One of the most worrying aspects of this situation is the apparent increase in danger for the Jewish people, angry zealots are not known for being rational and the threat to Jewish people stems from the treatment of the Palestinians most of them Muslims by the State of Israel. It is vitally important to emphasise that Israel and the Jewish people are not the same thing and that Israel does not speak for Jews across the world, many Jews are in fact as opposed the actions of the State of Israel as I and many others are. Not enough is being done to publicise the fact that Jews are not responsible for the problems of Palestinian Muslims Israel is. Action by world leaders against Israel would go a long way to ease tensions with Muslims worldwide.
There are very few dangerous and brutal events in the world today which cannot be made worse by the arrival of Benjamin Netanyahu the Israeli Prime Minister, and Paris proved no exception. The orchestrator of the slaughter of 1,400 Muslim men women and children in the last recent atrocity by Israel called ‘cast lead’ appeared at the French funerals as if his hands were clean, and Israeli representatives used the situation to blame Palestinians thus demonstrating wretched opportunism. Meanwhile Jewish people in various parts of the world are living in fear; this is a scandal which has to be tackled as a matter of urgency.
We would do well to consider that ‘free speech’ does not exist in any country that we know of, all countries can find a reason for locking people up for incitement of one kind or another, some do so more than others. There is only one way to eradicate such incidents and that is to rid societies of the circumstances where such hatred and fanaticism breed. The atrocities committed in Ireland by Christians against Christians and the slaughter of all those young people by that clean cut intelligent  Norwegian Christian fanatic do not mean that all Christians are like that, nor are all Muslims like the killers in Paris.
Not so long ago a satirical piece appeared in a magazine here in the UK, the target of the satire was Scotland, it called Scotland ‘Skintland’ along with other similar jokes, I thought it was clever and funny. The first minister alex salmond however found it worthy of becoming Incandescent with rage and he stated that “they (the magazine) would rue the day that they insulted Scotland”. He was of course posturing as usual but, did he stop to wonder who was listening to him and what some people might have thought he meant?.

Here is The Guardian cartoonist Joe Sacco from Sat. 10 January “what makes Muslims unable to laugh off a mere image. If we decide it’s because there is something deeply wrong with the killers – then we must drive them from their homes and into the sea...for that is going to be far easier than sorting out how we fit in each other’s worlds”. Is that really what we want?.

Did Labour not just vote for more poverty along side the Tories at Westminster

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

No. But it's a well thought out question.

cynicalHighlander said...

You are still lying for Labour then as they marched smiling arm in arm and jovially with the Tories to vote on passing £30 billion of cuts onto the poorest in society. Has Chilcot found those WMDs in Iraq yet?

The biggest terrorists in the world are in the White House and Westminster but facts elude your labour mentality as usual. Have you joined the Jackson society and friends of Israel yet to keep in with your new leader?

Happy New Year.

Head in the sand as ever Terry...

Your party standing shoulder to shoulder and voting for welfare cuts that are proposed by the Tories.....

Are you so loyal to the party that you cannot criticize that stance?

Britisg Labour are purely and cynically pandering to middle England.

28 member of Labour DIDNT just vote for Tory austerity plans?

Your replies to comments of your blog are always consistent i.e. 'you ur poisonous, nae facts, yer an idiot.

Yet you are brazen enough to deny something that happened in parliament YESTERDAY.

See to be honest your completely blinkered attitude is OK for me, i laugh at it and move on. You on the other hand... have to look in the mirror and accept that you lie... to yourself!!! When everyone can see the situation as it is... your own prejudices will not allow you to be honest even to yourself.

Theres one thing being spineless and not standing up against someone its another when you wont even challenge your own views for your own sake.

Over the last week i have seen you refuse to put posts on because you don't have the political fortitude to answer with any sort of gumption. Also, replying to your own posts... deary me Terry.

What a sad state of affairs to get yourself in.

Listen i get it, you rely on your wage, its your job, so do i. I would be obstinate, belligerent and vindictive to keep my wage coming in but do yourself a favour and jump ship. Its OK for career councillors to do that, the public already think that of you anyway. Labour murdered their socialist roots with Blair in 1997 and too many of you and your cohorts cant see that its coming to roost.

Only a party member will deny what Labour did in parliament yesterday whilst the public see a different view.

The only people that cant see that Labour abandoned the working man are the Party members.

Id probably take solace from the fact you were reading this, not necesseraly publishing and taking on board what is being said but alas you wont and for that i am eternally grateful.

All parties agree that spending cuts are necessary, you don't seem to be capable of understanding that different parties will put the onus for those cuts on different groups, is it too complicated for you?.

I am and will remain an intractable enemy of the state of Israel. And while I have no time for the 'Jackson Society' it's not difficult to find far worse people than them, we could start with the snp.

There are a great many people in various UK and American political parties who are opposed to
neo liberalism. I have argued for socialism inside the Labour Party for over 40 years and for as long as that I have come across people like you who play at left wing politics and spend your time posturing. Your post is lazy and dishonest.

You are clearly never tired of repeating yourself but personally it bores me rigid, we have dealt with these matters before and again I say, either you are too dishonest or too stupid to admit this, or a bit of both.

The Labour Party and the Tory Party are completely against each other over the spending cuts not about the fact that the deficit has to come down, your determination to avoid that makes you untrustworthy. I have lost many arguments in the Labour Party over the last 40 odd years as did Tony Benn, Michael Foot etc. and so today does Denis Skinner so your accusations are just ridiculous. As far as not printing some posts are concerned I will not print abuse or unfounded accusations, and people repeating the same stuff over and over will not be printed either. If for instance you decide to write back and make the same completely subjective, baseless and silly points again I will not print them, send something fresh if it’s possible for you to do so and as long as it’s printable it will go in.
The fact that I am printing your post here despite it’s embarrassing witless and puerile contents is proof that I am fair.

No only the neo liberal ones who kneel at the bankers altar and ask how much do you want dear masters.

I am and will remain an intractable enemy of the state of Israel. And while I have no time for the 'Jackson Society' it's not difficult to find far worse people than them, we could start with the snp.

Your party leader leader supports Israel and to link the SNP as being worse than Israel shows that you and your party are rotten to the core without any integrity whatsoever.

Red Tories is too mild a label to give you and your party as it's dying like the empire to which you are so beholden.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

"All parties agree that spending cuts are necessary,"
My apologies I should have said 'all serious parties'.

Given the opportunity the snp would carry out actions to match any despotic government in the world, because you see it's all done for the cause isn't it.

Are you sure you are on the right thread here?.

I will continue to fight for socialism, you can quit if you like. There is a line in the Red Flag about people like you, "let cowards flinch and traitors sneer, we'll keep the Red Flag flying here".

Running Man said...

I will continue to fight for socialism even if it means agreeing with Tory policies on welfare what you should have said Terry.

Only person repeating themselves is you Terry....Fingers in ears and eyes tight shut saying "I am a socialist and a member of a socialist party"....

The facts around your Parties policies and the votes of your Labour MP's say otherwise....

People are not blind to it, even if as a cult member you cannot criticise. The facts are there to see...

Suck it up Terry, as the man said. It must be hard to look yourself in the mirror in the morning.

Everyone who can work should work, I regard that as a socialist principle. Labour will never sanction the disabled.

The Labour Party has nothing to do with Liberal Cronyism.

Running Man said...

If you don't agree why did you stick up for those Labour MP's who voted with the Tories.

I would expect at least some level of resistance from Labour to voting with the Tories when it comes to Welfare reform. Not even an amendment was proposed.

Its true some did abstain and some even voted against but far far too many voted with the Tories.

Would you have voted with them ? Be honest now.

Kyle Smith said...

"I have lost many arguments in the Labour Party over the last 40 odd years as did Tony Benn, Michael Foot etc. "

To me, if i had to argue with my party on such a fundemental political belief as Socialism then i would move party. Its called having principles, no amount of historic Socialist rhetoric is going to vindicate you.

When you are a socialist you dont join the Labour party or the Tories. Its like saying you are an avid Celtic fan and then walking about with a Rangers shirt on, its non-compatible. It is a wee meetings worth of an argument, you fall on very different lines. To carry on regardless is to confirm your own spineless agenda.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Running Man said...Monday, January 19, 2015 9:45:00 am From 2015-20,

I suppose it's too late for you to argue in any other way than by putting forward simple sound bites, while I accept that politics is a complicated business, I will however continue to indulge you in the hope that you might mature a bit.

Labour will spend £12.5bn more than the Tories on the NHS. Labour will raise extra taxes by increasing the rate the highest earners pay from 45% to 50%. Labour will introduce a Mansion Tax on £2m properties, and they will introduce a windfall tax on Tobacco firms' profits. Labour will also close hedge fund & pension relief loopholes this will increase the tax take.

Labour will balance the budget, and that is what we voted for on Tuesday. Unlike the Tories, Labour do not intend to run a £23bn annual surplus, because we do not believe in ideological cuts or shrinking the state. Labour will also exclude Capital Expenditure from out deficit reduction plans. This is crucial, and at present amounts to £27bn of state investment on an annual basis on infrastructural projects. It is cruel of the Tories to include this in deficit reduction because this money provides extremely good value for money and generate growth and jobs. Labour & the Tories are £50bn apart on deficit reduction.

By 2020, Labour will also ensure 200,000 homes a year are being built. This is an 80,000+ increase on current levels and will add £10bn+ to the economy annually. These types of growth initiatives help increase the tax take and thereby balance the books.I hope this is helpful.

When you start with such a blatant lie it does not augur well for the debate, I have never said that I have argued about socialism let alone lost arguments about it in the Labour Party, the Labour Party is a socialist party.

You clearly believe that insults are preferable to debate, you are running out of time, you better improve, I am a patient man but you are pushing your luck.

'I have never said that I have argued about socialism let alone lost arguments about it in the Labour Party@

Really what about your comment on this page?

' I have argued for socialism inside the Labour Party for over 40 years'

Kyle's point is completely accurate if you need to argue for socialism within the labour party then what does that tell you? The labour party has become a political party with no convictions and no principles. The party is all that matters now, very very sad.
Political parties may change attitudes wwhen progress is made but when they depart from their founding principles they become untenable.

I think I will argue now for an independent scotland with the SNP. doh

so you are just not publishing any posts that show you and your party in a bad light. Hurrah for free speech labour style.
Thats now two of my comments on this thread you haven't posted, neither of which have broken your pathetic attempt at a moral code. you are a disgrace to local politics.

Your willingness to lie and twist the meanings of words simply identifies you as a nationalist and a tartanshirt.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Even for a nationalist you are pretty dumb so I will tell you again. If you use inappropriate language, make unsubstantiated accusations against anyone without naming yourself or repeat yourself ‘ad nauseam’, you will not be printed.

I realise that as a nationalist this makes it difficult for you to post but my standards are far higher than those of nationalists and that is your problem not mine. You might do better if you can find someone to explain the meaning of the word ‘moral’ to you.

Kyle Smith said...

You are the only person who doesnt agree with my post about you having to argue within the Labour party for Socialism.
