THE SNP/LIB./DEM. ADMINISTRATION INSULT THE COUNCIL WORKERS.

On August 20 Th. 08 the workers of Renfrewshire Council will be on strike.

They will be striking for a better pay settlement, sometimes only the bare facts will suffice to crystallize an argument.

The council workers have been offered a rise which is less than inflation.

Senior Officers of Renfrewshire Council were given a rise recently of 16.7%.
Council employees are earning less in a year than some senior officers have been given as an annual rise, council low paid employees rely on benefits while this goes on, sanctioned by the SNP/Lib. Dem. Administration.

These are the facts ! will you the voters, please remember them when the time comes to do something about these people.

Terry, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the local administration in Renfrewshire Council!
Stop trying to score cheap points on the back of the Council workers.
Just what some of us have come to expect from you I'm afraid.

Isa.

You have very short memory. When in power you did the very same - it fact I think it was more of a rise - and happened several times.

Your ex comrade Manser reminded you of this in the local paper a few days ago.

You also forget to mention that the SNP have greatly reduced the number of senior staff saving more than twice what it wil cost to finance the recent increase.

You won't be accepting the councillor's pay rise which is about to be announced then ?

You’ll have to do better than this to cover up for the cowards in the SNP/Lib.Dem. Cabal over this one.

Senior officers have seen their chance with a useless inexperienced administration in place and grabbed that chance with both hands, they would not have dared to come to the labour administration with a claim of 16.7 % while council employees were striking because of a lower than inflation offer.

The same applies to all the other savage cuts they saw how weak the SNP/Lib.Dems. were and wielded the knife.

The SNP /Lib. Dems. ‘bottled it’ they are spineless.

Reducing the senior staff is irrelevant it’s a pathetic smokescreen by apologists for cowardice by the SNP/Lib.Dems.

Perhaps you can find a precedent for this kind of betrayal of the workforce, I can’t.

This is not the first and I don’t suppose it will be the last time that my comrade Richard Manser and I will disagree about something.

Ordinary Councillors get £15,000 Yr. and I will be accepting a pay rise although I haven’t heard anything about it.

Councillors are underpaid and have been for years.

'Reducing Senior staff is irrelevant.'

You'll find it's pretty damn relevant to those who lost their jobs

Clearly, it's only a reduction in Junior staff that lights the Kelly fuse.

C'mon Commissar, all men are equal, a lost job is a lost job no matter the position, out with the banner and start the march for 'Liberte, EQUALITE and Fraternite.'

Ordinary Councillors used to get about £7,000. You got a 100% pay rise im May 2007 - now you want more for a wee part time job.

Usual drivel, nobody lost their jobs they took voluntary redundancy, you really are not up to speed are you ?

“C'mon Commissar, all men are equal” so you agree with me then on these obscene rises.

I have always argued that councillors should be better rewarded “a wee part time job” you clearly don’t know the first thing about it

Sorry, but you are all missing the point, Comrade Manser included. The question should be are these people worth the pay rise that they have been given. The resounding answer is NO!

As i said here.... < http://humbug3.blogspot.com/2008/07/honeymoons-end.html> Mackay sounds more and more like a member of the last Conservative administration, in trying to defend rewarding failure. If Paisley was the successful vibrant town I and many other Buddies wish it to be, the pay rises would be a non issue. But its not, and they are.

When you can spend half of your day writing up the drivel that you feature on this blog, then you are clearly overpaid.

You seem to be missing the point neither Comrade Manser nor me referred to whether they are worth anything or indeed how many of them there are, you introduced those and they are not relevant.

Paisley’s vibrancy or lack of it is not relevant either, that’s not what I wrote about.

Cllr. Mackay can be understood quite easily, he bears and will continue to bear the imprint of the last senior officer or SNP politician to sit on him.

It’s not half my day, it’s not drivel and I’m not overpaid, there now that was a good debate wasn’t it Ivan ?

Another by-election due in Glenrothes, another rock-solid Labour seat set to go SNP.

Get out the Battle Bonnet, Big Man, put on the walking shoes and insist on your democratic right to canvass. Ignore the Party.

By helping Alex overturn yet another comfortable Labour majority, you could be the deciding factor in shovelling the current prawn aside and getting us an intelligent, decent and decisive Prime Minister.

If the opposition in Glenrothes turn out to be cowards like you then we won’t have to worry, will you come out of hiding when the by election is announced or will you continue to cower behind your tartan skirt ?

Allan said...

Well, no you didn't. I introduced the point about the council bosses performance in office.

If someone is given a whopping pay rise, you would have expected them to have performed Above and beyond the call of duty, especially in the current ecconomic climate. These people haven't (yet) earned their monster pay rise.

Oh, and best value for my council taxes is highly relevant, wouldn't you agree/

Me, in a tartan skirt?

Bloody hell Councillor, I'm Yorkshire, not some Caledonian fairy.

A fish always rots from the head down. A party like Labour which became solely about the pursuit, retention and exercising of power, once denied that power, will no longer have a purpose. Sure, the payroll can keep things ticking over in the absence of broader support, but once the councilor allowances start to disappear, when the MSP numbers become diminished, when the patronage can no longer be sloshed around as once it was, when the membership and activist commitment begins to dry up, when those at or near the top start bickering, it becomes a vicious and self-reinforcing cycle of decline.

We both know that you have run away from the original argument, why not face it and try again.

Is it true what they say about Yorkshire ? Are they really the only people on earth meaner than the Scots. ?
